2 hour rounds for games to 15

round 1 (9:30):
vs CMSU

round 2 (11:40):
vs Huckstables

round 3 (1:20):
vs Truman State (this is the important one)

round 4 (3:20):
pre-quarters
4 teams get a bye and the other 8 will play

There will be dinner provided at the fields. Sometime between play and dinner will be the fastest man competition and the biggest arm (distance) competition. We can enter one person in each competition.

Justin and Wax need to race again.
I'm entering in the biggest arm competition, since my arms are so freaking huge.

Party on!

Daniel

I like our seed.

Every game matters, not just Truman.

How are they going to pick the 4th team that gets the bye. Obviously, the winners of each pool will be 3, but how can you fairly pick the 4th team with no cross pool play?

This schedule does not match the UPA's approved format. I'm not sure that I want to change anything, just making a point. The UPA format indicates that two pools of 6 are appropriate.

Then with 4 teams advancing, the top 6 teams would play in a modified double elimination bracket.

Daniel, any ideas why the TD is not simply following approved formats? It really seems like there will be a lot of bitching about who gets that 4th bye.

yeah we saw how much good power pointing 3 teams did us (in case you forgot, we moved down 2 or 3 spots after those scores were included). don't worry though, I'm still up for some ass beatin'

As far as the format goes, I don't like the UPA aproved format. just seems goofy. but I am curious who the fourth bye will go to.

for the 4th spot:

1st priority - win/loss
2nd priority - point differential
3rd priority - flip disc

That method of detemining fourth really sucks. We should really be looking at this as - what happens if we get upset in pool play? Now we're in the argument with the TD vying for that 4th bye. I would not want our fate coming down to 1) how strong/weak the pools are relative to each other because of misseeds or 2) the flip of a disc. Of course, the easy answer is to kick ass.

The UPA has spent a lot of time determining what the best format is for 12 teams. I agree that it seems odd, but it has been analyzed using various scenarios. This gives assurances that it is a fair way to determine the winner of the tournament. Since this is a UPA event, I think we should be using thier formats. Earlier I said I really didn't care, but now I'm changing my mind.

This 4th bye is really really bugging me.

Jody,
Bring it up man... do it NOW.

The TD is new.
It SHOULD be the Sec. Corrd. setting the pools and rounds, and they are bound to abide by the UPA Tournament Formats. There may be an exception if the Nat. Dir. of Competition has expressely allowed it, but that's the only way.

I haven't looked myself, don't have time, but there maybe an exception depending on the number of teams advancing, if more than 4 advance for example.

This DEFINATELY should be brought up at the captain's meeting.
Daniel do you want to ask today?

Joy - I was leaving all that stuff to D-Marsh.

So,
What's the new schedule? or What's the fix?
