The overall impression is that the ultimate community has had a sense of entitlement rather than gratitude towards its Damgoode Pies sponsor, for which Damgoode Pies has withdrawn the gift of sponsorship to the FDA. There has been mistreatment towards the generous end in the form of complaints over beer discounts and discounts in general. The last poor business move was when we received a discount on food and beer for the FDA meeting because we had reserved such a large space, said that we would be buying hundreds of dollars worth of food- requiring extra staffing- and fell through on the deal. Needless to say, the owner, Brendan, doesn’t see our group as worthy of generosity anymore. _________________ This shirt is dry clean only....which means, it's dirty.

Good riddance. There certainly isn't a pizza place in Fayetteville that offers slower and poorer service. Too bad we didn't bring more people to the FDA Meeting so that the turnaround time on a single large one-topping pizza could have been more than the 45 minutes it took. I'm aghast that the venue was allegedly staffed for more patrons and could not take care of those they had. _________________ Bitches, Leave.

I thought Renata was going to talk about a personal change of attitude. I gotta tell ya, her thread titles are really misleading. _________________ social networking |

Fuck Damn Good Pies!
Go eat at Tiny Tim's and pay Smuecker back some of the $20,000 he has donated to FDA.

Change of attitude is right. What the hell is going on with sponsorship?
1) a sponsor of 12 years and roughly $20,000 who also plays ultimate has dropped their sponsorship.
2) Flying Burrito decides they don't like the deal they've been giving us and just drops it.
3) DamGoode Pies decides they don't like our attitudes and drops our discount in the middle of the year.
Both sides need a change of attitude.
We need to treat our sponsors better.
They need to follow through on their deal. Sponsorship is not given on a quid pro quo basis. I don't have any problem with a sponsor who says "this deal sucks and I'm not going to repeat it", but I do have a problem when they go back out on their end of the deal in the middle. _________________ YOU CAN DO ANYTHING

This isn’t to offer a cop out, but rather something to consider: the relationship between sponsor and club may be a little more vulnerable at a time when it’s difficult for businesses to give discounts.
I get the feeling that the issue is somewhere between this and the hassle of dealing with negative attitudes, which indicates to me that we are going to have to be considerate in order to secure sponsorships. _________________ This shirt is dry clean only....which means, it's dirty.

i agree with jody, the sponsors shouldn't be able to stop sponsorship halfway through the year. Even West Mountain honored theirs after Harvest upset them until 2010.
How negative is FDA being towards DamGoode really? Ok, so we mispredicted attendance for a meeting. Last year at Grub's we had the numbers they gave to DamGoode. It seems maybe this situation could be smoothed over by agreeing to have them cater an FDA event in the future and an apology for upsetting them.....but are members really going in there and being unruly and ungrateful?
AND i don't really feel we should have to suck up to sponsors who are jerking us around when other establishments can replace them
I think the most important thing to remember is not to be assholes to our sponsors and when they think we are, even if we don't, we should make sure to smooth out the relationship before they quit (and in the future make it clear that it will be a year long committment and they can't change the rules on the discounts half-way through)

What benefits does FDA (the organization, not members) get from sponsorship? Do they donate money to be on our shirts, or do they just provide discounts. I have never, not once used an FDA discount, there are always better discounts out there...10% off? don't waste my time. I get a coupon book in the mail every week with b1g1, etc offers.
Now if there is more to it than that, or if it is about the FDA community, etc. then thats another story, but if it is mainly about the discounts received, then that aspect is pretty worthless to me.

Regarding the low turnout at the FDA meeting, aren't they usually held during the week? We were out of town for the Jonesboro tournament. Maybe other people who would have attended also had weekend plans. |
