Great article in USA Today about Ultimate that didn't include the cliche dog comments.

My favorite part was this:

"My Actions Affect Others:
[...] When someone opts not to go to a tournament at the last minute, you feel the loss of that one extra sub, especially on a small team."

Yes, you did foul me. Yes, I am sure.

Yes, I would like to try that.

I might never be as good as the worst high schooler, but I'll show up to regionals. Put me in, coach!

Wish they had included:
"Contest. Oh wait, I've never read the rules. I'm a cakeeater. No contest."

Have you been watching a lot of the mighty ducks or something?

I recently adopted a new go-to insult.
Got pretty tired of explaining what I meant with the old insult (Louis CK does a good job: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IFloXOuLgA)

I couldn't care less about someone saying faggot I guess but when you actually hear the story of why gays began being called faggot then I might understand them being upset... But in the end it's 2012 and if you're truly offended by words then you should "quit being a faggot and suck that dick"

I think this one is better:

"I'm a white man. You can't even hurt my feelings."

In some ways I understand your point, but I still disagree. The issue is that we use words to describe or define groups with less power in our society and at the same time leverage those same words to everyone as insults. His point about cracker not hurting is because white males have power (not all, but generally). However, homosexuals, blacks, and women don't.

I'm not offended by the words. I'm offended that we live in an imbalanced and unjust society and that people who use those words are willing to continue living that way without questioning it or trying to change their own ways. I'm looking at the man in the mirror. I'm asking him to change his ways. but first I gotta suck a bag of dicks.

Most people in the world have sucked a dick!

I don't watch the Louis CK show, but Lindsey and I went and saw him when he came to Richmond. His act is pretty funny.

Jody I realize you're a very smart man but I think you sound like an over sensitive "I'm gonna make a difference" privileged sorority girl... You have so much yet you're talking about the plight of the little man like you have any idea what it's like. I don't think the ppl that we're talking about could give a shit less if Chuck says faggot or if you ask him to use a different word... Most of the people that are from the shitty neighborhood that I was born in care more about making it out than wether you're politically correct or not. Also if you're so upset about us having an unjust society that holds others down then I might remind you that you work at Walmart, a company that's accused of underpaying and overworking all their lower level employees... Maybe take a look at the stuff you do versus correcting others about their speech

I never thought "cake-eater" would actually be appropriate as a pejorative term...
But in effect, Jody has been villified as the biggest cake-eater of them all.
Interesting.

When can we get back to planning Kaplan's face punch?

****MY BAD, KAP****

way to dismiss what I know without any real understanding of what that is. I know enough to listen to the people coming from various groups who say they are hurt by these words. I know enough to know I don't know everything, but that I can learn a lot by listening to people's stories about the things I haven't experienced.

Who exactly are we talking about? I thought we were talking about people who were offended, but then you say...

RandomHero wrote:

so which is it? What I know is that it isn't limited to only..

RandomHero wrote:

I certainly expanded it to a conversation about a larger group. I included Homosexuals, many of whom do in fact care about people slinging the term faggot around.

RandomHero wrote:

You do know what an accusation is right. it's not actually proof of anything.

RandomHero wrote:

I'm pretty sure that I didn't correct anyone's speech. I commented about how it could and should offend people. The only person I asked to change was me.

I do look at the stuff I do. One thing I notice is that I hang out with people who want to get a free pass for all of their shit just because it's 2012 or something. I decided that I one thing I should do is speak up to call them on their bullshit.

So, in conclusion, i call BULLSHIT.

I'm unsure which definition you are applying to me.

Can't be #1 since I don't live in Edina, MN.

Don't think it's #2. I drive a 2004 Honda Odyssey with 150K miles on it.

Don't think it's #3. I'm not stuck-up or tacky.

Probably not #4. You're not Celtic.

Maybe you meant number 5. Some kind of twisted comment on my alleged wealth and weight?

#6 feels pretty good. I'm a 50's player. Is this the what you meant?

No, clearly you meant #7. I don't always do that, but when I do, it's active!

When citizens complained to [Marie Antoinette] that the peasants were starving and that she should give them bread, she replied, "Let them eat cake!"

FYI, when the queen from the French Revolution was referring to cake she meant the soot and crap that gets 'caked' up in a chimney, not the delicious yellow cake with chocolate frosting that Perry's enjoy on special occasions.

Walmart is awesome. Lower level employees bitch about wages and benefits, but a job that does not require a high school diploma should get crap wages. If you want a to have a career at Walmart, then you have to go to college. Then, there will be plenty of room for advancement and higher pay.

Also, faggot is an ugly word. I agree with Louis CK's stand-up routine about how I used the word as a kid. I try not to use the word now that I'm an adult and understand the full connotation of the word and its implications.

In conclusion, these boards have become like the FDA message board. I favor forum euthanasia.
