Regionals Round 1

Texas beats Texas Arlington 15-2. Texas seemed to have it under control. Their bench seemed less large than years past.

Truman State beats LSU 15-12. This game was even at the beginning going 4-4. Seemed sloppy at first, then got tighter. Later, LSU goes up 11-9 with Truman having unforced errors. Both teams looked jittery. Truman comes back at the end on a 6-1 run.

Texas State Beats Mississipi 15-8. Texas State seemed in control for the whole game.

North Texas beats Harding 16-15. This was the gem of the first round. You knew it was going to be special when Harding, the 13th seed, took half 8-7 against the 4th seed UNT. Note that KRich, UNTé─˘s leader, was forced to miss his last regionals due to surgery previously in the week. Heartbreaking stuff, as not many people compete as fiercely as Kevin. Dam Emmons throws a point to tie the game 8-8. Harding goes up by one, but UNT fires right back, 9-9. Harding comes down on defense with a zone, but UNT works it patiently up the field. UNTé─˘s handling core looks solid, with Brooks being anchor. UNT scores, 10-9. Harding works it to midfield when Kevin Burr throws a 40 yard hammer into the endzone. Tyler Samuel, Hardingé─˘s monster, skies his defender, bobbles the disc, then catches it on his way down. 10-10. UNTé─˘s big man, Dan Emmons, throws for a score. 11-10 UNT. Harding throws a downfield, errant huck, but number 23, Peter Jordan has a trailing edge layout grab. 11-11. UNT works it back up and scores without a turn. 12-11 UNT. Harding works it up to midfield and Tyler Samuel hucks to Tyler Con. UNT at this point seems like the more technically proficient team, but Harding refuses to go away with big hucks. Harding scores. 12-12. By this point the other teams are starting to finish and the game begins to feel more like a finals than a 1st round game. Hardingé─˘s friends and family fill one sideline, UNTé─˘s bench, the other. Harding comes down with a Z, but UNT scores, with Dan Emmons again assisting. 13-12 UNT. More teams gather around the filled. The clouds move in and make things dark. Wind gusts 10-15 mph. Harding works it to midfield, then a trash huck goes way up. Tyler Samuel makes a HUGE sky over Dan Emmons in the matchup of the big men. Harding scores. 13-13. At this point, at least 8 teams are huddle around the sidelines watching. Chants of é─˙Ozark - Ozarké─¨ start to drown out UNTé─˘s chant of é─˙North é─ý Texas, North é─ý Texas.é─¨ UNT turns, Harding then has a 60 yard huck, but this time Dan Emmons gets the huge D over Tyler Samuel. BUT, Dave Ryan immediately throws a swing out of bounds on the goal line. Harding forces it up line, the disc tips, but Harding pulls it down in the endzone. Harding goes up 14-13. Dan Emmons answers with a score. 14-14. The disc goes back and forth with multiple turns. Tyler Samuels has another sky. UNT responds with a turf. Samuels bombs a hammer in the left back corner of the endzone to Peter Jordan. Harding goes up 15-14. The soft cap is on, so game to 16. UNT answers with Brooks scoring. 15-15. Kansasé─˘s Axl runs down the Ozark sideline, drumming support. Competing chants drown out the players yelling on the field. Harding has a bad throw and Samuel cané─˘t make the catch. UNT works it patiently on the goal line, then Dan Emmons throws the goal. UNT wins 16-15. Classic.

Arkansas beats Oklahomaé─˘s 7 man squad 15-8.

Wash U rolls on Rice 15-7.

Mizzou upsets Texas A&M 15-11. Kyle Johnson looks good for Mizzou.

Kansas beats Mississippi State 15-6, but in a brief stretch, Axl was skied and KK had a throw away.

Regionals Round 2

Texas beats Truman State 15-11. Texas jumped out to t 6-4 lead. Peter Clarke makes a great D on the dump, then scores in the back right corner of the endzone. Texas scores again, going up 7-4, getting some separation. Truman comes right back, moving the disc smoothly upfield, and scores. Stephen Presley answers with a 60 yard huck. Texas stays in front 8-5. Truman rattles off three in a row to tie the game 8-8. Texas focuses, however, and scores the next 6 in a row. 13-8. Truman scores, but cané─˘t close the gap. Texas looks technical, while Trumané─˘s style is more the 50/50 huck. Texas deeps cané─˘t shut them down, but it doesné─˘t matter because Texas is too precise.

Texas State beats North Texas 15-11. This game stays close in the first half, with State going up two breaks, taking half 8-6. UNT gets a break back, but Texas State is still in control at 10-9. State goes up another break, 11-9 off a Rickner huck to Jason Meager. Dan Emmons answer for UNT with a huck of his own. State still up 11-10. The next point is messy. UNTé─˘s rookie, number 21 gets a lay out D, but UNT turns it immediately. State turns, UNT turns, State calls a time out. Stateé─˘s coach, Jdoe gives an impassioned speech. Peter Doyle threads the field with a nice throw to Jason Best for the score. 12-10. States scores twice in a row, going up 14-10. UNT cané─˘t muster the comeback. Final score: 15-11, Texas State.

Arkansas beats WashU 15-10. Arkansas goes down early, but comes back. Jacob Perry hucks to Stephen Tucker, pulling ahead 7-5. Arkansas gets the D, then works it to midfield. Jones Clemons lobs a backhand roller into the endzone. Matt Jackson splits two WashU defenders for the huge sky, taking half. Arkansas continues to roll, going up 12-7. An errant huck is tipped by Stephen Tucker, but saved on the line by freshman Jordan English. English throws it to Webster é─˙Jamalé─¨ Langston, who gives it back to Tucker. He feeds it to English who throws up a floater to Tucker in the endzone. 13-7. Arkansas closes it out 15-10 with Kansas scouting on the bleachers.

Kansas beats Mizzou 15-10. The game starts even, the score being tied at 4-4. Kansas works it up smoothly. 5-4. Kansas Alumni claims that Kansas is merely é─˙dicking around.é─¨ Mizzou turns the disc, then Weston Norwood has a nice sky to take Kansas up 6-4. Kansas takes half 8-5. Mizzou sticks around, however, and is still with Kansas at 11-7. Drew Anderson catches a Kansas huck. 12-7. Kansas Alumni claim that Kansas still é─˙playing like dick.é─¨ Mizzou counters 13-8. They trade points from there, ending 15-10. Kansasé─˘s coach Stu Jack says Kansas senior Bigli is playing well on both sides of the field and shutting down the opposing teamé─˘s best players. He also says Jack McFarland has got some nice skies. Stu is looking forward to the Arkansas matchup, but says Kansas has to shut down Arkansasé─˘s speedy cutters.

I think it would just about be the most amazing thing ever if LS knocked Kansas out of the bids. Don't get me wrong, I do like Kansas but they need a break from natties.

Whose Kan[saw]?! [Our]kan[saw]!!

Tease managed to get a shot of this on my camera. It will posted somewhere soon. It was an absolutely sick grab. The shot is great, though it doesn't fully do the catch justice. Matt get so far over the dude, the defenders hand is at Matt's elbow.

Sara also got a shot of Hopwoods sick contortionist grab in this game.

Lots of good play = lots of good pics.

Way to go LS!
