Hey guys,

I went to a presentation today by Home Again about microchipping and thought I would spread the word.

Since a lot of us ultimate players let are animals run free out at the fields a dog getting lost is not out of the question. Without proper identification 90% of pets do not get returned to their owner! For around $15 you can get your dog or cat microchipped most likely at any local veterinarian. When you purchase the microchip the main thing to remember is to register it or it is like having a cell phone that can't get service and is useless! For the first year Home Again offers a free alert line ( 888-HomeAgain, dont call 800- HomeAgain unless you are looking for a good time Laughing ) that an owner can call when their pet is lost that will alert the local shelters and clinics that are registered with Home Again and they also cover pet insurance up to $3000 for injuries while your pet is lost with a $50 deductable. I think the pet insurance is a great addition because if your animal gets hit by a car it could cost around $1500 to care for them. After the first year, you can stay in the database for free or you can pay $15 a year to continue the pet alert and lost insurance.
For $1.25 a month we can make sure are furry friends will not be lost.

Microchipping is Not a GPS system.
It doesn't cause cancer.
Less than 1% develop a granuloma from microchipping and if this happens Home Again will pay for the removal.

For more info check out http://public.homeagain.com/ourservices.html

Just thought I would share, hope this helps someone.

I think this would be a really great thing because our dogs were stolen in the middle of the night from our house around 2 months ago and we had no reply to their whereabouts from door to door searches, newspaper adds, word of mouth or places like craigslist.

But, just as an upper to that downer, Rachel C. happened to be browsing pets on Craigslist last week and found our dogs! (wow, right?) It turns out that after someone took them from our house they dropped them off on the side of the road somewhere and we got really lucky that a good pet owner found them.

Thanks again Rachel! They are back at home!

Wow thats crazy! I'm glad you found them! Also if your pet gets stolen and they are found in another city then Home Again will pay to have your pet sent to you!

Condensed story for the skeptics. That's a lot of hate and effort for no return.

Andrea's cat is microchipped - however, he was such an asshole at the pound no one could get close enough to scan him. I'm proud.
