subject to change if i messed it up somehow (which i don't think i did)...final field still to be decided, and consolation games are at teams' discretions and desire to play them

Are all the tournament games to 15? Given the quality of play and inevitability of delayed starts, then most games will be capped. I propose the first round play-in games be moved to even earlier. Time is necessary to allow for a proper point total and relocation between fields each round. Starting at 9:15 gives two hours between rounds and still puts us on track to start finals at 3:15.

my intention is for games to be to 13 with finals going to 15 and captains deciding before if they want to cap the finals. games are longer during league to allow time for teaching and I didn't think that was necessary for the tournament.

You can win the game before it starts. Ultimate is dominated by offense. Even though all games are supposed to be won by a margin of two, time limits and inept TDs have all but removed this criteria from the rules. Hence, teams do not have to earn even one break to win the game.

If you win the flip take the disc. Mathematically, you are given a greater margin for error. The only exception to this rule is if you find yourself in an upwind/downwind game. If weather is a factor always take the wind. Mother nature is a bitch; you want her on your team.

In conclusion, eat the pussy.

yes, but this isn't nationals, or even regionals...

i want to discuss with the captains on the rules we apply to the finals, but time limits do affect the games leading to the last game. there is plenty of time to allow for the finals to go uncapped and to win by 2 though if we want to go that route. i can see the finals being a blowout, where none of this matters anyway, or a closely contested game where it makes a big difference. feel free to post here any thoughts you have, but also make sure your captain knows what you'd prefer since they will be the final voices.

Why do the finals matter if the other games do not? There will only be two teams in the finals. Each game is potentially the last for a team, so they should be allowed to be played out. Starting 45 minutes earlier is a mild compromise to fix the problem of rushed rounds.

with people having problems showing up on time at noon, i really don't want to get them there at 9:15. you can argue that is their fault for not winning the bye, but with the seeding being jacked up due to yellow's forfeits to 2 teams who would have been in the bottom 4, and the tardiness level of this league (especially the bottom 4 teams), i'm sticking to my 10:00 start...it's a matter of 15 minutes/game so i don't see it to be a big deal and think 90 minutes is long enough. if people don't agree with considering this in formatting the tourney, then they should start showing up on time. plus, the top teams should be happy to have the possibility of fresher legs in the finals if they make it...teams who want to play more than one game after losing, still have the opportunity to play consolation games.

the finals are longer b/c there is time for it, but they need to start at 3:15. their format is not decided yet...it might be an uncapped game to 13 - win by 2, or a game to 15, or a game to whatever with a 2 hour cap, etc. i'm waiting to get more feedback from the captains before deciding that.

same times, first 3 rounds games to 11, finals to 13, hard cap at 15?

but honestly my only goal is to win longest backhand competition.

If games get behind schedule will you adjust the cap times or enforce the shortened rounds?

There is the dirty secret. The first round is not starting on time whether you schedule it for 9:15, 10:00, or Noon. The second round won't start on time if the rounds are adjusted. Really, the 3v6 and 4v5 games aren't likely to start at 11:45, because that would require 4 teams to arrive on time. Scheduling an earlier start provides more time to adjust other rounds with less effect.

we will stick to the schedule, hard caps go off at 11:30; 1:15, and 3:00. i'll make sure people know teams can assess points if they don't show up on time. also, finals are on field 1, game to 13, win by 2, but with a 2 hour cap if it comes to that.

This must be nationals, or even regionals. What is the rule for assessing points?
